Capital Projects

We know from experience that building projects can be time consuming and stressful. A combination of thorough project management and strategic thinking is the key to ensuring that large undertakings get planned, executed and completed on time and within budget.

Counterculture has comprehensive skills and knowledge in implementing capital projects, from commissioning to completion. This has been gained from years of experience managing organisations and their buildings within the cultural sector across the UK. We offer practical, administrative and strategic support for a full range of projects. This includes the expansion, redevelopment and refurbishment of premises. Our particular expertise lies with public buildings and arts premises.

We have significant experience in working with capital funders, including the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England. This allows us to provide substantial knowledge of authoring and developing Activity Plans, Business Plans and Maintenance and Management Plans, both bespoke and to funders’ guidelines.

By working closely with design teams on projects, offering advice on all build and design elements, we ensure smooth and seamless co-operation.  We also specialise in consultant/engineer liaison, and regularly work with architects, quantity surveyors, structural surveyors, and building services engineers.

As specialists in the commissioning process we have a great deal of experience in a range of managerial roles from Project Administrator and Project Manager to Construction, Design and Management Co-ordinator.
