I’m a solicitor at Counterculture in Manchester and I advise on company law, intellectual property, music and entertainment law, internet and e-commerce law, data protection, governance and charity law to a range of clients in the music, arts, heritage, media, education and charity sectors.
I was a guitarist in a signed band (Universal/ Polydor/ BMG) for several years before returning to university and law school where I won awards and graduated with a distinction. Prior to joining Counterculture, I worked in the Music Department at ITV where I project-managed the Manchester Cluster of the Legal Social Mobility Partnership. I also advised a team of Manchester filmmakers in obtaining copyright consents for an award-winning comedy documentary.
I’m on the Panel of the PRSforMusic approved music industry lawyers and I’m also a member of the Music Managers Forum.
I’m passionate about music and have years of first-hand industry experience behind me, and I really enjoy working with musicians, composers, managers, labels and publishers, providing bespoke advice on all kinds of contractual, legal and commercial issues. I love going to gigs, and still play the guitar and write music in my spare time.
