
Laura qualified as a solicitor in 2017 at Counterculture and is based in Manchester. She has specialist knowledge and experience of working with individuals and businesses in the music industry and enjoys advising clients in the wider creative and cultural sector. She drafts and negotiates contracts and advises on a variety of commercial, intellectual property, charity, governance and regulatory matters.
Before joining Counterculture, Laura played guitar in cult Manchester band Performance whose debut album was described by NME as ‘the second best record you’ve never heard of’. She also worked as a Music Executive at ITV.
Laura loves working with those just starting out, as well as with well-established artists and organisations. Her experience on the creative side of the industry means she takes an empathic approach and truly understands clients’ needs and motivations.
Laura has appeared as a guest lecturer at BIMM Manchester and she is a member of PRSforMusic and part of their legal referral service. She is also a one of the Music Venue Trust’s panel of experts, helping grassroots music venues in need.
