Caroline has worked for over 21 years in the museum sector as a curator and cultural leader. Her work has involved senior team leadership, organisational strategy and business planning, policy creation, project management, resource management, fundraising, partnerships, museum learning, audience development and engagement, coaching and mentoring, creative programming, exhibition creation and delivery, interpretation, curation and collections management. Working predominantly in Local Authority settings, her experience has been wrought from on the ground leadership, practical creative production and day to day operations management.
In addition, as Executive Manager of the Great North Museum, run on Newcastle University’s behalf, Caroline has gained excellent insight as to how culture and arts in a Higher Education setting contributes to both student learning and the student experience, and how it supports wider research aims and grant funding.
Prior to working in culture and heritage, Caroline worked for ten years in the television industry and still draws heavily on this experience when thinking about audiences, impact and engagement.
Caroline is an alumni of the NextGen Leadership programme: Getty Leadership Institute and of the Museums and Resilient Leadership programme: Arts Council England & Black Country Living Museum.
