David’s work includes strategic planning, senior leadership development and general management consultancy. His work experience is largely in theatre and the wider performing arts. Recent projects include strategic planning for National Theatre Scotland, interim leadership support for Eden Court Highlands, creative leadership development for Theatre Royal Plymouth, and for Block9.

David is a passionate advocate for the role of creativity at the centre of civic society and in theatre’s ability to forge both temporary and lasting communities. He is the co-founder of 64 Million Artists, and an Associate with peoplemakeitwork with whom he designed and led Culture Reset – a rapid response programme for producers and curators in the summer of 2020.

David sits on the board of Artichoke and is the former chair of WildWorks. He is a former Artistic Director of Battersea Arts Centre, south London’s trailblazing theatre venue. He is an ex-employee of Arts Council England and has worked as a consultant with National Theatre Wales and the British Council (head office, and in India, Middle East North Africa, and Australia).
