Dinah is an experienced academic leader, author and broadcaster, with a strong record in working with national, regional and local cultural and arts organisations.

As Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Cultural Engagement at the University of Liverpool, Dinah worked with National Museums Liverpool, FACT (where she was a longstanding member of the Board), Liverpool City Council and the Combined Authority.

Serving as Chair of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Cultural Partnership International Strategy Delivery Group, she led the programme of cultural activities initiated by the International Student Welcome, available to overseas students across the city’s four universities.

She served as Chair of Main Manel D (Arts and Humanities) in REF 2021, acquiring extensive experience in evaluating the quality of arts and humanities research, and its public benefit.

She has led (as Director) the successful development of the University of Liverpool’s annual Literary Festival, launched in 2016. She is a regular broadcaster, contributing to arts programmes on Radio 4 and television documentaries on Sky Arts.

Dinah was awarded the CBE for services to higher education, literary scholarship and cultural life in 2016.
