Helen is an experienced Director and Museum & Gallery professional, with over 25 years’ working in the museum, gallery and heritage sector, working in a range of organisations including commercial, charity and national.

Helen previously worked as the Director of Programming from 2008 until 2019 at Lakeland Arts, a leading cultural organisation which manages Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Lakeland Museum in Kendal, Blackwell The Arts & Crafts House and the Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats Steam & Stories. She led the curatorial and learning teams creating opportunities for all to access great art and Culture. During her Directorship she was involved from inception with the Abbot Hall Redevelopment which aimed to create a world class cultural destination. She was also involved in the National Heritage Lottery Fund capital development of the Windermere Jetty.

Helen has also worked in senior roles at the National Galleries of Scotland, The Tetley Contemporary Art Gallery, Leeds and Scarborough Art Gallery. She is currently part-time Co-Director at Signal Film and Media in Barrow-in-Furness. Helen has an MA in Museum Studies and a BA in Visual Cultures, is a Clore Leadership Fellow, a trained Coach and holds an AMA (Associate of the Museums Association).
