Based on the true-life experiences of Dave Fishwick, Bank of Dave tells the story of how a working class Lancashire man and self-made millionaire battled officialdom to set up a community bank in Burnley. In a bid to help the deprived former mill-town begin to thrive once more in the wake of the global financial crisis of 2007-08, and feeling that the mainstream banking sector was doing little to assist small businesses, Dave’s mission saw him successfully procure the first banking licence to be issued in over 100 years. Bank of Dave will air on Netflix from 16th January.
Keith Arrowsmith, Senior Partner (Legal) at Counterculture not only provided legal advice to Dave Fishwick as he sought to establish a community bank in Burnley but the legal role Keith played in real life has ended up being fictionalised on-screen in a part played by Joel Fry.
Keith Arrowsmith comments: “It’s not every day the work of a lawyer like me ends up getting featured in a film but my role at Counterculture is all about helping people to realise their dreams while making sure that they have sound legal advice to turn those dreams into reality.”
