Museums and Galleries tax relief

Despite announcements to the contrary, the tax relief promised for museums and galleries in the UK has been delayed. The provisions in the Finance Bill did not pass into law before parliament was dissolved for the general election. The Financial Secretary to the Treasury says that there has been no policy change, and that it is expected that the incoming government will legislate for the provisions at the earliest opportunity.

Given other provisions were nodded through without debate, the reason why this relief required further time for debate is not clear.
