Sheila’s focus has been in education and arts working with the British Council for many years.  Sheila has a strong governance background and brings those skills to her knowledge of business development, strategy & planning.

Sheila’s most recent post was Deputy Director Europe.  Her British Council career included postings as Deputy Director Wider Europe (Western Balkans to Central Asia)); Director Business Development Wider Europe; various Business Development posts (for education, arts and civil society work); Head Scholarships; Deputy Director Scotland; Education Promotion Manager Scotland.  She has worked with and in many countries whilst always being based in the UK, the Edinburgh office and then the Manchester office since 2007. She also had the role of Head of the British Council Manchester office (2013-2016) and for many years was Chair and Trustee of the British Council Benevolent Fund.

Sheila is trained in workplace mediation. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute UK (CGIUK) and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

In 2004 she was awarded an OBE for her contribution to UK-international education relations.
