Tamara is a VAT consultant with a wide range of experience in assisting clients as diverse as arts and theatre companies, charities, property developers, construction companies, e commerce suppliers and sports clubs to understand and deal with the complexities of VAT. Tamara is based in the North West of England but has clients throughout the UK and EC.
Tamara has experience working as a VAT inspector for HMRC (then HM C&E) before jumping ship to join Deloitte and then BDO in the West Midlands, thus having the valuable ability to understand VAT issues from both a HMRC and tax payer’s perspective. She also provides and delivers bespoke VAT training to clients and was a class room trainer on VAT for Kaplan and BBP prior to lockdown.
Tamara joined The VAT People Limited in 2009, the business has a team of five experienced VAT consultants and prides itself on being able to deliver cost effective, practical, intelligible VAT advice to its clients. The firm has a wide range of clients many of whom are charities or not for profit organisations and its team is also busy advising organisations on the impact of Brexit on their VAT position. The VAT People Limited also has a sister business, The Customs People Limited that specialises in Customs Duty advice.
Unusually for a VAT consultant, Tamara originally started her career as a ceramic artist and has a BA (Hons) having studied at Bath Academy of Art. She also qualified by examination to be a member of AIIT in the early 1990’s when with Deloitte, but did not join the AIIT as at that point she expected to resume her arts career! When not providing VAT advice or training to clients she likes to compete on her horse, create art work or entertain her son (though generally not all at the same time).
